Futsal

Futsal is Spanish and it is pronounced: futtsaal.

Since 2019, futsal has been part of the Special Olympics World Games.

 

How to play futsal:

You play futsal like soccer.

However, there are some differences.

For example:

In futsal,

  • the ball is smaller.
  • the ball bounces less.
  • the teams have 5 players.

Unified Sports®

In Unified Sports®, people with ID and

people without disabilities play sport together.

They also compete together.

The people with ID are called athletes.

The people without disabilities are called partners.

 

Is futsal a Unified Sport?

Yes.

There are teams of people with ID.

And there are teams of people with ID and people without disabilities.

 

How many people play futsal at the World Games?

213 athletes and 76 partners.
