Team Special Olympics Germany (TeamSOD) was successfully dressed for the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin last weekend. The total of 575 delegation members not only received their outfit, but also a large portion of joyful anticipation.

When athletes get asked what they are looking forward to most at the Games, the answer is often: "Meeting new people."

Some already got a taste of that last weekend when all members of TeamSOD traveled to Berlin, met each other with curiosity, and proudly received their official uniforms.

The anticipation is rising

"We've already been to Olympiastadion in preparation and I'm looking forward to walking in there with my team at the World Games. We want to play well in Berlin. Maybe it will even be enough for a medal," says Nicola Brings, captain of the women's football national team.

The Olympiastadion (Olympic Stadium) will host the grand Opening Ceremony on 17 June 2023. Tickets for the big event can be purchased here.

This team will compete for Germany

415 athletes will represent Germany at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin from 17 to 25 June 2023, competing for medals and successes against almost 7,000 athletes from around the world.

TeamSOD includes 356 athletes and 59 Unified partners (without disabilities). They will be accompanied by 130 coaches and other delegation members such as doctors and photographers.
