At the Special Olympics World Games, there are time trial and road race disciplines, each with different course lengths. The goal is to cover the distances as quickly as possible to reach the finish line.
 

Special Olympics feature:

Our rules differ slightly from those of the Union Cycliste International. For example, there is the maximum effort rule that is used in the time trial. Also, for safety reasons, it is forbidden to take your hands off the handlebars.

By the way:

In the 19th century, scientists believed that the face would be deformed by the airstream from cycling.
