Special Olympics athlete Robert Herberg opens the Six-day race with a loud bang: together with State secretary for Sport Dr. Nicola Böcker-Giannini and former professional cyclist Jens Voigt, the starting signal was given for the 110th edition of the Six Day Berlin.
The Six-day race with the international name Six Day Berlin is a traditional cycling event in Berlin, which takes place annually (except 2020 and 2021 due to the Corona pandemic) in the Velodrom.
We were allowed to set a sign for inclusion at the anniversary edition: Special Olympics cyclist Robert Herberg joined Dr. Nicola Böcker-Giannini and Jens Voight for the official start.
This year, the Six Day Berlin took place from 27 to 29 January with various forms of competition and a spectacular supporting program for young and old.
I am very happy that I was able to give the starting signal. Sending so many fast cyclists out onto the track was a lot of fun. I'm already looking forward to my own ride in June at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023.
Since Robert Herber will also be taking part in Cycling at the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 again, having already won gold once at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
More importantly to him than a winner's medal is that cycling motivates him to go through life more actively and sportily.
