Be part of something truly special: from 15 to 25 June 2023, the Special Olympics Festival will take over the heart of the city, bringing the Games right underneath the TV tower. Join us for a vibrant, inclusive, and open-air celebration.

Experience unforgettable moments with our athletes as they compete in the official 3x3 basketball competitions, enjoy exciting performances on stage, and try out the interactive offers and activities from our exhibitors and partners.

Admission is free.

Opening hours: daily from 14:00 to 22:00
Exceptions: On 17, 22 and 25 June, the festival closes already at 19:00.

In the meantime, the band RockAntrieb (formerly Handiclapped Band) has become a permanent fixture at inclusive events. They play many of their own pieces mixed with rock covers from all decades.

German Trombone Vibration – that's a cheeky, exceptionally cast ensemble from Berlin. The five young musicians are probably the most charming pocket big band in Germany. Sometimes nobly restrained, sometimes outspoken and groovily interpreted, German Trombone Vibration enchant their listeners with their good-mood swing. The perfect interplay of the trombones combined with the humor of the five guys reliably makes the audience smile and animates them to dance.

The Grande Fanfare is Berlin's largest open workshop band, organized by the Berlin Brass Festival. The Berlin Brass Festival association offers many different workshop formats. She plays the acoustic guitar and sings her own songs in German, English and Japanese, as well as gospel and New Zealand Maori songs.

The appealing alternative to Balkan beat and Bavarian brass music comes from Berlin and is called Beat 'n Blow. For more than 25 years, the nine musicians around singer Jasmin Graff have been providing outrageous groove and don't care about style boundaries. New Orleans jazz, funk, blues, reggae or rock – the main thing is that it's fun. Beat 'n Blow is a Berlin cultural institution and sweeps away every audience equally – be it on the street, the club or the festival stage.

21 downbeat are composer and musician Leo Solter and in varying line-up the RambaZamba actors Eva Fuchs, Hieu Pham, Moritz Höhne, Heiko Fechner, Ferdinand Dambeck, Vincent Köhler and Sebastian Urbanski. The principles of the inclusive band: intoxication and ekstase, respectively boom and confetti! The band members create a very individual sound from their own texts and poems by contemporary authors.

Movement offers for ALL children and young people

A diverse, yet low-threshold offer awaits children and young people at the festival site of the Special Olympics World Games 2023 at the Neptunbrunnen. With the support of the German Gymnastics Youth, the Berliner Gymnastics Youth and the associated event team provide a range of exercise for EVERYONE, which does not depend on gymnastics skills, but on having fun with exercise.

Various stations invite the children to balance, climb, jump and run around. The older visitors can measure their strength with various fitness exercises and challenges.

At the stand of the Documentation Centre Nazi Forced Labour you can find out about forced labour under National Socialism in Berlin and beyond. 26 million men, women and children were exploited as forced labourers by the Nazi regime in Europe during the Second World War.

We will answer your questions about the history of forced labour and forms of remembrance. We provide information about our educational offers.

With an app, you can discover places of forced labour throughout Berlin. There are small prizes to be won at the stand with a quiz question.

Nearly two-thirds of visual impairments in children go undiagnosed for too long – a disturbingly high number because vision problems can severely impact a child's development.

An experienced trainer from EssilorLuxottica leads through the interactive training. 1-2 persons accompany the exercises on site. After the training, the guardians receive the test documents. The athletes will be asked / invited to visit the Healthy Athletes® area at Messe Berlin.

The founder NADJA KOPPE, herself severely disabled, prints her self-designed motifs on shirts, bags, backpacks and wash bags ONE-HANDLY using the textile screen printing process.

With GANZSCHÖN BE/HINDERT, she launched a COURAGE MARKET during the lockdown in 2020, which is intended to strengthen those affected and those involved (relatives, friends, acquaintances) with physical and mental disabilities in dealing with them.

NADJAS creations have wordplay, are sarcastic, sometimes also rough, just like the founder herself. The message in her designs is always – don't take yourself too seriously, don't harden with your fate.

  1. A pavilion (3mx3m) with a wheel of fortune incl. giveaways and a beer tent set, if necessary a football table or another small module will be added.
  2. A blind football station with a fixed football goal and a small free area in front of it. Here, blindfolded shots are fired at the goal.

There will be two permanent employees in charge of the stand at all times and at peak times our blind footballers will be on site to support the offer. Mascot Herthinho is also there.

Theater Thikwa / Booth No. 1


How about winning and losing? And with the things in life in general? Theater Thikwa interviewed Special Olympics athletes. Their stories are the source of inspiration for a colorful mix of scenes. A fast-paced series of short performances, dance acts and beatbox-numbers can be seen several times a day in front of the Thikwa containers at the Neptunbrunnen.

Theater Thikwa is "Germany's most famous theater where artists with and without disabilities act together" (rbb Kulturradio). In its own venue in Berlin Kreuzberg and at guest performances all over the world, Thikwa makes diverse art without borders.

With creativity and competence, USE develops offers through which people with disabilities can find an individually suitable structure – from daily structuring offers to job coaching. Because everyone can make a contribution! This collaboration between disabled and non-disabled people shapes our everyday work.

We also demonstrate this at the Special Olympics World Games with the join-in activtity of model building! Try to put a true-to-detail tram in motion with the bike!

Model building is one of over 30 professional fields in which disabled people have a work perspective. The SPWO will also welcome and advise an inclusive team from USE.
