Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023
The Special Olympics World Games are the world's largest inclusive sports event. Thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities compete together.
From 17 to 25 June 2023, the Special Olympics World Games took place in Berlin and for the first time in Germany.
We celebrated a colorful international festival of sports – with the aim of achieving greater recognition and social participation of people with intellectual disabilities in our society.

Our Cultural Program has officially started
The Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 are more than sports: Our Cultural Program includes over 120 inclusive offers from the Berlin cultural sector. The official opening took place today at the Humboldt Forum.
The time has come: The Flame of Hope™ is lit
The moment has come: The Special Olympics Flame of Hope™ was lit by a high priestess in Athens, Greece, in a solemn ceremony at the historic temple Zappeion Megaron. The flame will now be sent on its journey before arriving at the Opening Ceremony at Olympiastadion on 17 June.

Here the competitions in 3x3 basketball, cycling and beach volleyball take place:
There will also be the Special Olympics Festival at Neptunbrunnen and various highlight events at Brandenburg Gate, as well as the big Closing Ceremony.
