Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023
The Special Olympics World Games are the world's largest inclusive sports event. Thousands of athletes with intellectual disabilities compete together.
From 17 to 25 June 2023, the Special Olympics World Games took place in Berlin and for the first time in Germany.
We celebrated a colorful international festival of sports – with the aim of achieving greater recognition and social participation of people with intellectual disabilities in our society.

No rainy weather can ever spoil our mood
The sixth competition day started with bad news: Due to heavy rain, the tennis courts, hockey and 3x3 basketball fields, cycling roads and sailing boats had to remain empty. But we would not be Special Olympics if we did not keep our spirits high, now more than ever. Here you can find a selection of the best pictures and videos of the day.
Good spirits and lots of fun at the family program
The Family Program of the Games is very well received. More than 5,000 people from all over the world have signed up for it and are cheering on their relatives at the competitions. They also have the opportunity to get to know each other and exchange experiences at various events.

Today, gymnastics-artistic is the last sport to start the competitions at our Games, we cooperate with CSD Berlin e.V. at the Special Olympics Festival at Neptunbrunnen and more. An overview of the highlights of the day can be found here.

Olympiapark

There will also be the Special Olympics Festival at Neptunbrunnen and various highlight events at Brandenburg Gate, as well as the big Closing Ceremony.
